Investment Banks Get a Break on Reporting Carbon Emissions (1)

Investment banks and brokerages have been given a reprieve from reporting on greenhouse gas emissions tied to their capital markets activities under global climate reporting requirements now under development.

The International Sustainability Standards Board is writing guidelines for companies on how to report environmental and social factors that are expected to be finalized in early 2023, before being widely adopted globally amid investor demand. Earlier this month, the ISSB dropped a proposed requirement for investment banks and brokerages, a decision it said reflects a current inability to pin down so-called facilitated emissions.
