IMF Board to Discuss Argentina Wednesday After FX Policy Reset

The International Monetary Fund’s executive board will discuss Argentina’s $20 billion program on Wednesday during an informal session in Washington, according to people familiar with the matter.

IMF staff working on the program, which began in April, will brief board members on the latest developments in Argentina, the people added, asking not to be named because the information isn’t public.

President Javier Milei’s government loosened restrictions on currency trading earlier this week and said it will start to rebuild foreign reserves, taking advantage of growing investor confidence that it can shore up Argentina’s fragile finances.
