Housing Affordability Bill Advances After Provision Scrapped (1)

The most sweeping housing legislation in a generation advanced in Congress after a contentious provision was removed and the White House offered its endorsement, sending the bill back to the Senate.

The House passed the bill 396-13 on Wednesday.

The legislation — which aims to increase the nation’s housing supply and boost homeownership — is an attempt to address voters’ affordability concerns ahead of the midterm elections this fall, as accelerating inflation and economic uncertainty exacerbated by the war in Iran take hold.
