Walleye Hires Citadel Alum Murphy to Head Capital Markets (1)

Hedge fund Walleye Capital hired former Citadel portfolio manager Rory Murphy as global head of capital markets, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Murphy, who’s based in Miami, is set to start in October, reporting to Walleye Chief Executive Officer Will England, the person said. Murphy joined Citadel in 2005 and left in 2021, his LinkedIn profile shows.

A representative for Walleye, which managed $6.8 billion at the end of August, declined to comment. The firm’s $4.8 billion Opportunities Fund advanced 3.4% in August, bringing its 2024 gains to 11.4%.
