Fed’s Williams Sees Risk of Higher Inflation From Tariffs

Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John Williams said there’s a risk of higher inflation this year, though his baseline view is that it will remain relatively stable.

“You saw a very broad view across the participants of the committee that there were upside risks to the inflation outlook,” Williams said Monday during an interview with Yahoo Finance, referring to the central bank’s latest economic projections. “That’s completely consistent with how I personally view it.”

“Definitely there’s upside risks depending a lot on these, on the tariffs and other policies that may take place,” he added.
