EU, UK Lawmakers Group Renews Call for Carbon Market Linkage (1)

A body that includes members of the UK and European Union parliaments renewed a call to consider linking the UK and EU carbon markets ahead of a May summit.

The EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly called on the respective governments to “give serious consideration” to linking their emissions trading systems — which have been separate since Britain exited the European Union — according to a document dated March 17.

UK carbon futures for December rose as much as 5.7% to £46 ($59.65) a metric ton, the highest since Feb. 17, on ICE Futures Europe.
