Douglas Elliman’s Howard Lorber to Retire; Liebowitz Named CEO

Douglas Elliman Inc. Chief Executive Officer Howard Lorber is retiring from the real estate brokerage, with board member Michael Liebowitz tapped as his successor.

Liebowitz, 55, was named chairman and CEO of the brokerage, which has operations in major cities including New York and Washington, according to a statement Tuesday.

Lorber, 76, has run the brokerage for years, helping to steer the company through its spinoff from Vector Group Ltd. in 2021. Shares of Douglas Elliman have tumbled more than 50% this year as high interest rates weighed on home sales.
