Bessent Says Treasury Talking With Big Bondholders on Debt Limit

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that his department is conducting outreach to major holders of government securities to get a better picture on their thoughts on the federal debt limit.

“That’s a prescient question, because one of the things that our markets desk — who interacts with our large debtholders — is speaking to them about is the debt ceiling,” Bessent said after a television interview with Bloomberg’s Saleha Mohsin at the Treasury Thursday, when asked about the debt limit.
