Stocks Extend Gains on Rate-Cut Bets, Nvidia Drops: Markets Wrap

Technology stocks helped extend a rally in global equities into a third day, fueled by mounting expectations of a Federal Reserve interest-rate cut in December.

The MSCI All Country World Index rose 0.1% after comments from more Fed officials favoring a rate cut lifted investor sentiment. Asian shares climbed 0.8%, with technology stocks such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. among the winners. That tracked Monday’s advance in the Nasdaq-100 Index, which came after three weeks of losses. Gold, which typically benefits from lower rates, climbed to around $4,150 an ounce.
