Texas Governor Vetoes Hemp Bill That Aimed to Crack Down on THC

Texas Governor Greg Abbott vetoed a bill that would have banned recreational THC products made from hemp, leaving open a loophole that has allowed shops to sell edibles, joints and drinks that create a high similar to marijuana.

Vetoing the measure about half an hour before a deadline that would have allowed it to become law without his signature, Abbott said the bill was “well intentioned” but suffered from defects that would hamper its enforcement. He also called a special legislative session to begin July 21 and included THC regulations on the agenda.
