US Regulator Issues Emergency Permit for California Oil Pipe

The US Department of Transportation has issued an emergency special permit for part of a contested California pipeline system, paving the way for Sable Offshore Corp. to begin pumping crude at its offshore oil rigs.

  • Sable has received an emergency special permit from the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration for segments of its Santa Ynez Pipeline System: Co. statement
    • Permit applies to lines CA-324 and CA-325: PHMSA
    • PHMSA determined the emergency permit was in the public interest, waiving the requirement for public notice and comment: agency statement
