US Attorney Phillip Talbert announced his resignation as US attorney for the Eastern District of California, which covers 34 counties throughout the Central Valley and the Sierras with offices in Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.
Upon Talbert’s resignation, Michele Beckwith will become the acting US attorney for the Eastern District of California pursuant to the Vacancies Reform Act, the DOJ said. Beckwith is a veteran federal prosecutor who served as first assistant US attorney to Talbert and earlier as executive assistant US attorney and criminal chief.
