Now the Senate has its say.
After House Republicans spent weeks piecing together the massive tax and border package that advanced out of the chamber Thursday morning, senators immediately made it clear that for them, it’s just a starting point.
“The Senate’s going to want to put its own stamp on this,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) put it more stridently.
“The House bill’s based on rhetoric,” Johnson said. “Now we have to focus on the reality.”
