Trump to Use War Powers for Calif. Oil
President Donald Trump is preparing to invoke Cold War-era powers to pave the way for Sable Offshore to get permits to produce oil off the southern California coast, Jennifer Dlouhy and Nathan Risser report.
Trump is set to soon summon authorities under the Defense Production Act to preempt state laws in a bid to restart significant production from a cluster of offshore platforms, part of his response to higher oil prices.
