Take Edison LA Fire Allegations With ‘Grain of Salt,’ Judge Says

Edison’s Southern California utility must keep power from flowing through at least five lines near Altadena, Calif., for 21 days, a California state judge ordered Monday, though he said it’s too early to say what caused the deadly Eaton fire.

A power line several miles away from the fire’s origin in Eaton Canyon shows an electrical fault happened around 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday—the minute the fire erupted, according to a new regulatory filing. The filing follows video evidence of what appears to be a powerful electric arc around the same time, and then a raging fire.
