Swalwell’s California Bid Imperiled by Assault Allegations (2)

US Representative Eric Swalwell’s campaign for California governor was thrown into turmoil after a series of sexual assault allegations, prompting key financial backers to suspend support and top Democrats such as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to call on him to exit the race.

The political action committee supporting Swalwell’s campaign, Californians for a Fighter, is suspending its activities, a spokesperson said. The committee’s biggest backers include Uber Technologies Inc. and businessman Stephen Cloobeck.
