Major tech, antitrust, and health-care bills face a key deadline this week as most committees in the state Legislature wrap up hearings for the year.
Legislators and lobbyists will be rushing to make amendments, push their favored measures through packed committee hearings, and rally allies against bills they want to stop before leaving town Friday for a monthlong recess.
The legislative session will be far from over when lawmakers return Aug. 18. But by then, it will be the Assembly and Senate appropriations committees’ turns to vet these measures before bills head for floor votes.
