Meet Molly Dwyer, the 9th Cir.'s Top Clerk

Molly Dwyer thinks of herself as a chief operating officer.

The operation in question? The largest federal appeals court in the country, with 29 active judges covering nine western states, two territories, and 67 million people. (That’s about a fifth of the US population.)

Dwyer is the Clerk of Court for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where she oversees its administrative activities that enable dozens of judges to take on the busiest docket in the US. She’s worked for the court since 1988, serving in her current role since 2008.
