Judge Considers Anthropic Copyright Deal Today

Authors who sued Anthropic and scored a groundbreaking $1.5 billion settlement in the last month will urge a federal judge today to approve the deal.

I’m Aruni Soni, a Bloomberg Law reporter who has been closely tracking dozens of lawsuits filed against AI companies over copyright issues. I’ve been watching as Judge William Alsup of the US District Court for the Northern District of California has overseen this case and its settlement proceedings, one of the earliest public deals in a wave of lawsuits alleging that AI companies misused proprietary online content.
