Former Newsom Adviser Indicted by Feds

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s former chief of staff Dana Williamson has been indicted in a corruption case by federal prosecutors, Andrew Oxford and Eliyahu Kamisher report.

Prosecutors allege that Williamson, who served as Newsom’s top aide for about two years, conspired to divert $225,000 in political campaign funds for an associate’s use and to inappropriately claim $1 million in business deductions for personal items. She allegedly falsified documents and made false statements to federal agents, according to the indictment unsealed Wednesday.
