Judge Disqualifies Essayli as US Attorney
A California federal court disqualified Bill Essayli from serving as the Central District of California’s acting US attorney.
Essayli has been unlawfully serving in the role for months and must immediately stop performing the functions and duties of the acting role, Judge J. Michael Seabright, a nominee of former President George W. Bush, said in his Tuesday ruling. The case is part of a pattern of challenges to the Trump administration’s designation of top federal prosecutors without local approval.
