Disney Facing Class Suit Over Trackers Installed on Its Website

The Walt Disney Co. was hit with a new class suit in federal court claiming that it violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act by installing tracking software on the disney.com website without obtaining consent from users.

John Tasker sued Disney and its direct-to-consumer unit alleging that the trackers, operated by Google and Comscore, function as pen registers and trap and trace devices that capture users’ IP addresses, browsing activity, unique identifiers, and device attributes.
