California Labor Cases Active Amid Reform

California employers’ strategies against certain labor lawsuits by employees are in flux. This comes amid targeted legislative reforms that have yet to achieve their stated goal of reining in these PAGA complaints.

Amendments to the Private Attorneys General Act in 2024 shortened the time frame for California employees to bring class action-like claims against employers — cases that have cost companies some $10 billion in the last decade.
