Big Tech Antitrust Bill Stalls in Committee
Legislation targeting business practices of major tech companies stalled in the California capitol as lawmakers raised concerns about upending widely used services like Apple’s app store and Google search, Andrew Oxford reports.
The bill (SB 1074), backed by startup incubator Y Combinator, would have barred large tech companies from giving preference to their own products over competitors’. That includes prohibiting search engines or app stores from prioritizing their own products, or online retailers requiring most-favored-nation clauses with suppliers.
