A divided Wisconsin Supreme Court agreed to take up a challenge to state law enforcement’s authority to arrest individuals subject to federal immigration detainers.
The high court’s Wednesday order granted Voces de la Frontera Inc.'s request to accept original jurisdiction over the immigrant advocacy group’s lawsuit against several Wisconsin county sheriffs, which alleged state law doesn’t give local officers the authority to make the arrests.
