The NFL players’ union paid nearly $11 million to 20 law firms last year, with more than three quarters of that money going to Winston & Strawn.
Winston received more than $8.4 million in the one-year period between March 1, 2023, and Feb. 29, 2024, according to a NFL Players Association filing Wednesday with the US Labor Department.
The firm’s co-executive chairman, Jeffrey Kessler, is a sports industry litigator who has represented the union and NFL players for decades. Winston began doing work for the NFLPA in 2012 after hiring a Kessler-led litigation team from now-defunct Dewey & LeBoeuf. ...
