Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati promoted Luke Liss to the new management role of pro bono partner at the Palo Alto, Calif., office, the firm said Tuesday.

Liss will be the primary contact for client requests and will develop relationships with nonprofit service providers, according to Wilson Sonsini.

He previously served as a senior litigation counsel and pro bono counsel, and the pro bono program has grown more than 54% under his leadership, the firm said.

Liss advanced pro bono initiatives for racial justice, sustainability, immigration, and domestic violence survivors, according to the firm. He has a trial win on behalf of the largest class of Medicare beneficiaries and a verdict against one of Colombia’s well-known paramilitary leaders for human rights crimes, Wilson Sonsini said.

He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2006 and B.A. from the University of Oregon in 2003.
