Willkie Opens in San Francisco with Two Veteran Litigators

Sept. 9, 2019, 3:04 PM

Willkie Farr & Gallagher has opened an office in San Francisco with the addition of two seasoned litigators from Bay Area litigation boutique Keker, Van Nest & Peters, building on the firm’s recent inroads into California.

Simona Agnolucci and Benedict “Ben” Hur will co-lead Willkie’s new outpost , which is opening less than a year after the white shoe firm planted a flag in nearby Palo Alto, Calif. That office, which focuses on corporate and transactional work, now has 14 lawyers.

Agnolucci and Hur represent technology companies, investors and individuals in litigation, investigations, criminal prosecutions and enforcement actions. The pair will be building a litigation team on the West Coast, the firm said in a statement.

“We are extremely excited to help [Agnolucci and Hur] grow this office and expand their business with our well established litigation, corporate and other capabilities,” Willkie chairman Thomas Cerabino said in a statement. “We’re proud to enhance our firm’s ability to serve this litigation market, especially given the prominence of many technology companies and private equity funds based here in the Bay Area.”

Hur had been a lawyer at Keker for more than 14 years, and Agnolucci departed after a more than seven-year stay at the firm. Hur has represented clients including Qualcomm, Comcast Corp., Broadcom Inc. and HTC Corp. Agnolucci’s clients have included Lyft Inc. and Public Storage Inc.

In a statement, Hur said he looks forward to the “unique opportunity” to help Willkie build its West Coast litigation practice.

Willkie’s Palo Alto office opened in December with two former Paul Hastings corporate partners, Tiffany K. Lee and Matthew D. Berger. The firm’s 10th and 11th locations , respectively, are its first U.S. offices west of Houston, where it opened its doors in 2014.
