Willkie Farr & Gallagher advised San Diego-based software company Insightful Science LLC on its aquisition of Dotmatics Ltd., a data management platform.
Goodwin Procter advised U.K.-based Dotmatics on the deal, which is expected to close in the second quarter. The companies will continue operating independently after the transaction closes.
The companies didn’t release financial details for the deal. People familiar with the transaction said it was valued at as much as 500 million pounds ($690 million), Bloomberg News reported.
Insightful Science, owned by private equity firm Insight Partners, provides data analysis and computation for about a million scientists in academic, corporate, and government institutions, according to a statement.
The companies combined will generate more than $100 million in annual revenue, providing tools that enable scientists to improve the efficiency of their laboratories, speed their access to data and ease exchanges with other scientists around the world.
“This announcement signals a significant transformation in the future of software and data management in research labs,” said Thomas Swalla, CEO of Insightful Science. “Our complementary businesses create an end-to-end, cloud-first scientific research platform that stands apart in our collective ability to support data-driven research.”
