William Hochul Joins Davis Polk After Delaware North Departure

William Hochul Jr., former general counsel for hospitality company Delaware North and husband to New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D), is joining Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Hochul joins as counsel in the white collar defense and investigations practice in New York, Davis Polk said Tuesday. He will advise clients on matters, including complex government and internal investigations, crisis management, communications strategy and risk mitigation.

His record and experience “make him especially attuned to the needs of our clients,” firm managing partner Neil Barr said in a statement.

Hochul stepped down his post as the top lawyer at privately held Delaware North on Aug. 15.

He spent nearly 30 years working for the US Department of Justice in a variety of roles. President Obama nominated Hochul in 2009 by to serve as the US Attorney for the Western District of New York, a role he held until his departure to Delaware North in 2016.
