White & Case and Latham & Watkins advised on a deal by GDS Holdings Ltd. to raise $1 billion from mostly new US investors to develop data center operations outside of the company’s mainland China operations.
White & Case advised the international affiliate of GDS, DigitalLand Holdings Ltd., which is developing data center operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. The equity raise was led by Coatue Management, which Latham advised. The investment also included “substantial participation” by The Baupost Group, according to a company statement.
