WeCommerce Holdings Ltd., which provides merchants tools to develop online stores, has named former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. executive Susan Min as its general counsel.

Min until 2018 spent seven years at Goldman, five as global head of its risk and policy. Before that she was an executive director and senior counsel for Goldman in Hong Kong.

WeCommerce, based in Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, creates and invests in companies that operate on Shopify Inc.'s platform. Its brands include Pixel Union, Out of the Sandbox, Archetype Themes, and Stamped.

WeCommerce’s chairman, college dropout and entrepreneuer Andrew Wilkinson, co-founded the company along with its CEO, Chris Sparling. They had backing from billionaire Bill Ackman, and the company went public last year.

The selection of Min comes as WeCommerce also announced it had hired David Charron as its chief financial officer, effective Nov. 1. Charron joins from TeraGo, a provider of cloud, colocation and connectivity services, where he served as chief financial officer since 2017.

Min most recently worked for M&M Consulting Group in the Seattle area, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her past legal experience includes stints at Allen & Overy, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and DLA Piper.

In her private practice, she represented public and private companies, and sovereign and quasi-sovereign entities in capital market transactions. Her first job was as an attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Corporation Finance.
