Walmart Inc. agreed to settle a lawsuit two months after a jury hit the retail giant with a $223 million verdict for stealing Zest Labs Inc.'s trade secrets after exploring a partnership, according to a federal court filing.

Zest convinced a jury to find Walmart willfully and maliciously stole proprietary information regarding its system for reducing fresh food waste in a May verdict in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. An appeals court had previously tossed another jury’s $115 million verdict before Zest retried its case and nearly doubled the award.
