- Harvey is rolling out its law school program in the UK, partnering with Oxford’s Faculty of Law, King’s College London, BPP University, and the University of Law. The expansion follows the legal AI company’s uptake in the US, where more than 25 law schools now use the platform, and comes as UK legal education starts to rethink how it prepares students for practice. - LegalTech Fund closed a $110 million second fund, signaling growing investor confidence that AI will change the nature of legal work by automating tasks once handled by junior lawyers. The firm says rapid adoption of AI tools across law firms, corporate legal departments, and consumers helped it scale far beyond its first $29 million fund. Backed by LPs such as McDermott Will & Schulte, Orrick, and Thomson Reuters Ventures, the fund targets early-stage startups using AI to streamline legal workflow. (The Wall Street Journal)
- Erika Evans, a former Justice Department attorney who resigned from the agency in protest in March, will take office as Seattle’s elected city attorney on Jan. 1 after winning the race with nearly two-thirds of the vote. Motivated by the Trump administration’s dismantling of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division and directives she said targeted diversity efforts, Evans said she turned her frustration into a campaign message that helped build a quick lead in both the primary and general elections.
