Wake Up Call: Job Prospects Rosy for Twitter’s Fired Legal Execs

• Getting fired by Elon Musk probably hasn’t hurt job prospects for Twitter Inc.’s former legal department leaders, chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde and general counsel Sean Edgett. • A Washington county judge ordered Facebook parent company Meta to pay $10.5 million in legal fees to the state on top of a nearly $25 million fine for repeated and intentional violations of campaign finance disclosure laws. (Insurance Journal)
• ArentFox Schiff, which says it advises some of the world’s top brands on metaverse issues, said it has officially opened its groundbreaking metaverse office in the Luxury Fashion District of Decentraland. The firm posted a YouTube tour of the outpost, for which it bought digital real estate in February. (AFSLaw.com)

• Management-side worklaw firm Littler said it opened its 107th office worldwid in Honolulu, Hawaii. The firm grabbed shareholder Wayne Yoshigai from Jackson Lewis to open the office with existing Littler shareholder Judy Iriye. She’ll split time between the firm’s Hawaii and California offices. Littler also brought back shareholder Kyllan Kershaw in Atlanta. A former associate at the firm, she returns from Seyfarth Shaw, where she was partner and national vice chair of the labor management relations practice group. (Littler.com)

• Foley & Lardner added tech transactions attorney Lyman Thai, former top lawyer at defunct legal tech company Atrium, in San Francisco as a partner and member of its venture and growth capital team. He arrives recently from Wilson Sonsini, where he was of counsel. In Tampa, Florida, Foley picked up former federal prosecutors Jason Mehta and Natalie Adams as partners in its health care and government enforcement defense and investigations practices. • Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Singapore office picked up international disputes attorney Paul Tan as a partner and to lead its international arbitration practice in Asia. Tan arrives from Cavenagh Law, which is registered as formal law partner in Singapore under Clifford Chance Asia. (GibsonDunn.com)
• Faegre Drinker added two commercial real estate lawyers as counsel. Shane Barnes joins in Minneapolis from U.S. Bank National Association, where he was assistant general counsel and vice president. Richard Hayes, who was at a Faegre Drinker predecessor firm earlier in his career, returns in Indianapolis from Duke Realty Corporation, where he was senior vice president, legal and assistant secretary. • Colorado-based restaurant chain Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. said its former deputy general counsel Sarah Mussetter will rejoin the company as chief legal officer, effective Dec. 5. Since September 2021, she’s been senior vice president, deputy GC, and assistant corporate secretary at educational-software provider Skillsoft. She replaces ex-CLO Michael Kaplan, a former Greenberg Traurig corporate shareholder who recently left Red Robin to become senior vice president and general counsel at home construction company MDC Holdings Inc. Red Robin vice president and deputy GC Jeff Hoban is serving as interim CLO until Mussetter’s arrival. (PR Newswire)
