Wake Up Call: Jenner to Open in London

• Jenner & Block has announced that it will open an office in London , although it hasn’t yet named the lawyers it’s expecting to hire. “The new London office will build on the firm’s well-known and respected capabilities handling litigation, regulatory investigations, enforcement and white collar crime; and international arbitration,” a Jenner statement said. It will mark the 450-lawyer firm’s fifth office, and the only one outside the United States. (Legal Business)

• It was less lucrative to bring a securities class action last year, according to a report by Cornerstone Research . The aggregate amount of settlements dropped 78 percent, from $4.85 billion in 2013 to $1.07 billion in 2014. (Bloomberg)

• Winston & Strawn has announced that it hired five attorneys from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in its leveraged finance practice, bringing to 15 the number of corporate partners who have joined from Pillsbury in recent days. (American Lawyer)

• A U.S. Trustee recommended that a former Weil Gotshal & Manges partner be appointed as examiner of the Caesars Entertainment Operating Co.'s bankruptcy. Richard Davis of New York would lead an investigation into pre-bankruptcy transactions conducted by the casino operator. (Wall Street Journal)
