Welcome to Bloomberg Law’s Wake Up Call, a daily rundown of the top news for lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel.

  • Boston law firm Todd & Weld is suing conservative media outlet Newsmax over alleged unpaid legal bills totaling more than $400,000. In a complaint, the firm said Newsmax is in breach of contract and “concedes it owes but refuses to pay,” for its work representing the company over multiple libel lawsuits against Newsmax over its coverage of voter fraud. • Stuart Platt, a New Jersey lawyer who previously worked for Franklin Township, filed a lawsuit alleging he was terminated from his municipal contracts because he is Jewish. The suit accuses Mayor John Bruno, Deputy Mayor Timothy Doyle, and former committeeman David Deegan of making antisemitic remarks and pushing to end Platt’s work despite no complaints about his performance. • A&O Shearman associate Ashley Hollis was crowned the winner of Big Brother, Season 27. In her final speech, Hollis reflected on how she “changed the trajectory” of her game throughout the season, strategically hiding her profession as a lawyer and intentionally dumbing herself down to lower her threat level.
