Wake Up Call: ABA Says Breach Exposed Account Info of Site Users

  • The American Bar Association said it suffered a data breach in March that exposed usernames and passwords of some online account holders on its old website. (ABA.org)
  • Ropes & Gray advised Audax Private Equity on its growth investment in Pyramid Laboratories, Inc., a California-based drug product contract development and manufacturing organization. No financial terms were disclosed. Ropes said its team for Audax included private equity partner Chau Le, tax partner Pam Glazier, finance partner Greg Bauer, and health-care partner Michael Lampert.   • Clark Hill had strong demand in several practices but revenues ticked down 0.5% to $343.5 million in 2022. Its profits per equity partner dove 10.1% to $640,000, pulled down by investments. (American Lawyer)
  • A former UK Latham & Watkins employee convicted of making and owning sexual images of children was barred from working in the legal profession. (Roll On Friday) In another UK case, a senior lawyer who was his firm’s compliance officer was disbarred for exposing himself to schoolgirls at least 30 times over a three-year period while on his daily run.   • US disputes firm Hausfeld is opening a third office in Germany in July. The Hamburg office will be led by former White & Case antitrust litigator Ann-Christian Richter. She’s currently deputy managing partner of Hausfeld’s Berlin office. (Juve.de)

  • Willkie Farr & Gallagher hired former Weinstein Company general counsel and executive Andrew Kramer as partner in Los Angeles and chair of the firm’s motion picture, television and entertainment finance practice group. Kramer, recently an entertainment transactions partner at Loeb & Loeb, was chief operating officer, international distribution at movie studio Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. (Willkie.com)

  • Sheppard Mullin said corporate and securities partner Johneth Park is returning to the firm in Seoul, Korea, after serving as general counsel of Doosan Corporation and as chief legal officer at Donsan’s East Hartford, Connecticut-based affiliate HyAxiom, Inc., a fuel-cell maker.
