USA Today Defeats Lawsuit Over Tracking Technology on Websites

USA Today Co. scored the dismissal of a proposed class action alleging it disclosed the personal information of website visitors to third parties without consent in violation of California privacy laws.

Plaintiffs Ryan Wu, Saber Khamooshi, and John Deddeh failed to allege concrete injuries sufficient to establish their standing to sue in federal court, Judge Maxine M. Chesney of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday.

Chesney granted USA Today’s motion to dismiss, but gave the plaintiffs leave to file an amended complaint.
