Dechert advised Seattle-based private equity firm Seawall Capital on the acquisition by its portfolio company, Kent Outdoors, of Kona Bicycles and inflatable kayak maker BOTE.
Dechert, with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, also advised Kent Outdoors on the acquisition of Ferndale, Wash.-based Kona, which has been making bikes for 34 years, according to a statement.
The law firms also advised Kent Outdoors on the acquisition of BOTE, a watersports brand whose products include paddle boards, inflatable kayaks, and floating dock systems.
The rebranding and acquisitions strengthen Kent Outdoors position as a market leader in building brands that help people enjoy the outdoors, the statement said.
“We believe in autonomy with accountability for our brands,” said Ken Meidell, CEO of Kent Outdoors. “We provide targeted support behind the scenes, while giving each brand the independence to grow to their full potential.”
