Two Firms Guide BlackRock Unit’s Buy of Fire Protection Provider

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised BlackRock Long Term Private Capital on its acquisition of a majority stake in Summit Companies, a fire protection services provider, from New York-based CI Capital Partners.

Paul, Weiss advised Mendota Heights, Minn.-based Summit Companies, which is part of SFP Holding Inc. No financial details were released.

Summit says its subsidiary companies offer services for fire detection and suppression, and protection for buildings, assets, and people, including installation, inspection, monitoring, maintenance, remodeling, and consulting. It says that through 82 acquisitions since its 1999 founding it has grown to have 90,000 customers across 20 states throughout the Midwest, South, and Southwest.

BlackRock said in a statement it will partner with Summit’s management team to drive the company’s next phase of growth.

“Safety continues to be a critical regulatory focus for companies across industries,” said Colm Lanigan, head of BlackRock Long Term Private Capital in the Americas. “We look forward to advancing Summit’s strong growth momentum.”
