Trump’s Immigration Policy Shifts Shake Up Law Firm Talent Pool

International lawyers who require visas to work at US firms are finding fewer opportunities after President Donald Trump placed restrictions on the permits, including a $100,000 application fee for the H1B visa.

Applications from associates who require visas and are looking to move to another law firm are essentially dead on arrival, particularly in the last six months, said Bryson Malcolm, founder of recruiting firm Mosaic Search Partners. He no longer takes those applicants as clients because “I’ve seen how little traction they get,” he said.
