Trump’s Rapid Deportations Spotlight Court Frustrations (1)

A frantic four-day court fight over the fate of West African men deported to Ghana came to a head Monday night, with a US judge saying despite her frustration there was little she could do about individuals who had already been sent to foreign countries.

The men allege US authorities told them that they would eventually be sent from Ghana to their home countries, where they feared persecution, torture or even death. Their lawyers said they weren’t told where they were going when they were put on planes and that some were put in straitjackets for hours.
