Trump Gutting of Labor Agency Raises Strike Risk: The Brief

THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION has decimated a small labor agency that has played an outsized role in some of the nation’s largest workplace negotiations, jeopardizing an important means for averting strikes, Parker Purifoy reports.

  • There are just four labor mediators left at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, down from 143, according to two people familiar with the situation. The cuts will immediately impact private and public-sector unions and employers seeking to reach contract agreements or settle disagreements, labor observers and one agency leader said.
