Trump Administration Sues Connecticut Over ‘Sanctuary’ Rules

The Trump administration sued Connecticut officials on Monday claiming their “sanctuary” policies violate the US Constitution’s Supremacy Clause and federal law by obstructing immigration enforcement.

The current administration has sued various Democrat-led cities and states seeking to curb their policies limiting local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities, with some suits dismissed by district courts. The lawsuits follow President Donald Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the southern border on the first day of his second presidential term and subsequent executive orders increasing immigration enforcement.
