Troutman Sanders Legal Secretary Drops Sexual Harassment Suit

March 17, 2020, 8:33 PM UTC

A Troutman Sanders LLP legal secretary who alleged a former male partner at the firm stared at her breasts, touched and kissed her without permission, and otherwise harassed her has agreed to drop her suit, Manhattan federal court records show.

Jessica Correa filed a stipulation of voluntary dismissal Monday in her sexual harassment case against the firm and former partner Gerald Francese. She accused Francese of starting to harass her even before she officially became a Troutman employee.

The abuse also included Francese asking her out to lunch, commenting on and offering to adjust her clothing, loaning her $2,600, and offering to be her “Sugar Daddy,” Correa told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in her Aug. 12 complaint.

It is unknown whether the case is being dropped because the parties reached a settlement. Lawyers for Correa, Troutman, and Francese didn’t respond Tuesday to Bloomberg Law’s requests for more details.

The stipulation was referred to Judge John G. Koeltl for review and approval, according to court records.

Goddard Law and Eisner & Dictor represent Correa. Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman represents Troutman. Harris St. Laurent and The Mitchell Law Group represent Francese.

The case is Correa v. Troutman Sanders LLP, S.D.N.Y., No. 1:19-cv-07511, stipulation of voluntary dismissal 3/16/20.
