Packaging company TricorBraun Inc. has named Georgia-Pacific LLC lawyer Susan Bergethon as its first general counsel effective Monday.
Bergethon joins St. Louis-based TricorBraun after nearly a decade with paper product manufacturing company Georgia-Pacific , where she was most recently chief counsel. She will oversee TricorBraun’s ESG practice in addition to its legal function, according to a Monday statement.
TricorBraun, founded in 1902, is North America’s largest packaging distributor and brings in $1.5 billion in annual sales, according to its website. It distributes packaging for industries such as healthcare, food and beverage, household items, and beer and wine.
“Susan’s deep in-house legal and management experience will be key as we continue to carry out our aggressive growth strategy,” TricorBraun president and CEO Court Carruthers said in the statement.
In March, the company was acquired by alternative investment manager Ares Management Corp. and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board for $1.23 billion. TricorBraun that same month acquiredCanadian-company RODA Packaging.
Before her time with Georgia-Pacific, Bergethon worked for LHC Group, McKesson Health Solutions, and Equifax. She began her career with law firm Alston & Bird.
“Her experience in acquisitions and commercial contracting, in particular, will help guide our efforts as we serve our customers and continue to build the best place for the best people in packaging,” Carruthers said.
