Tom Goldstein’s Internet, Electronics Use to Remain Monitored

Attorney Tom Goldstein on Tuesday lost his bid to undo a magistrate judge’s order subjecting his electronic devices and internet use to monitoring as part of pretrial release conditions.

Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby, ruling from the bench, said internet monitoring was an essential tool to ensure compliance with other unchallenged conditions, including those restricting Goldstein’s ability to engage in transfers or transactions involving cryptocurrency.

On balance, the conditions are the least restrictive necessary to ensure he doesn’t flee or cause financial harm to the public, she said.
