Three Firms Lead as Blackstone Buys Tech Publisher IDG

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised Blackstone on its deal to acquire International Data Group Inc. from Oriental Rainbow LLC.

Hong Kong-based law firm King & Wood Mallesons was lead adviser for Needham, Mass.-based IDG, which also got advice from Boston-based Mintz.

The deal gives IDG an enterprise value of $1.3 billion. Oriental Rainbow is a subsidiary of China Oceanwide Holdings Group Co.

Founded in 1964, IDG says it has over 1,100 analysts providing market intelligence on technology and industry trends in more than 110 countries. New capital from Blackstone will allow the company to expand its technology and product portfolio, ...
