The Knot Worldwide Taps Ex-Blackboard Lawyer Chaban for Top Role

Digital wedding planner the Knot Worldwide has promoted Felicity Chaban, formerly a lawyer for Blackboard, Inc., to be the company’s general counsel.

Chaban was among three executive appointments announced by the Knot on Wednesday. She has been with the company since 2015, as its senior vice president, legal, and deputy general counsel, handling transactions, financings and internal operational initiatives, according to the announcement.

At education technology company Blackboard, Chaban was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, technology and strategic partnerships, marketing, and real estate. She previously worked at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney in Philadelphia and Washington as a corporate finance associate.

The Knot also said Wednesday that it has hired Jenny Lewis, former head of U.S. and Canada marketing for Uber Technologies, as its chief marketing officer, and promoted Andy Ivanovich, who has been with the company since 2013, as its chief financial officer.

Chaban and Ivanovich “have a proven track record of success at The Knot Worldwide and have been instrumental in leading several transformative business milestones during their tenure, including the merger of WeddingWire, Inc. and XO Group Inc.,” Tim Chi, the company’s chief executive officer said in a statement.

The company, which has 19 brands in 16 countries around the world, provides the Knot registry and other online planning tools, as well as invitations and personalized websites for couples. Its services are offered through the Knot, WeddingWire, Bodas.net, Hitched, and Matrimonio, among others.

The Knot also provides pregnancy and parenting related content and tools through the Bump, and celebration planning assistance through the Bash.
